2019 Criminal Justice Lobby Day

February 17, 2019 @ 2:00 pm
February 19, 2019 @ 7:45 am

The ACLU of Idaho, in partnership with IMSI Hope Community Phase II, Systemic Change of Idaho, Idaho Prison and Criminal Justice Reform Advocates, and Just Leadership USA is proud to host the 2019 Criminal Justice Lobby Day.

This lobby day is focused on the unique need to elevate the voices of individuals directly impacted by Idaho’s criminal justice system – people who have been formerly incarcerated and the family and friends of current/formerly incarcerated people. Share your story and meet face-to-face with your legislators to talk about the reform issues that are most important to you.

Register Now for the 2019 Criminal Justice Lobby Day!

During this two-day training, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about Idaho’s legislative process and how to engage their elected officials on the issues that impact them directly. Sunday’s training will cover the legislative process, how to talk to elected officials, and a review of criminal justice reform legislative priorities – such as employment opportunities for people with criminal backgrounds (“Ban the Box”), sentencing reform, and public defense funding. On Monday, participants will meet with legislators to discuss their specific legislative interests and attend relevant judiciary committee hearings.
